Altona Rare Earths

Since early 2020, Altona Rare Earths has been implementing a strategy to acquire, explore and develop critical raw material resources to sustain the Green Energy Transition, with a focus on Rare Earth Elements.

Altona’s flagship asset is the Monte Muambe Rare Earths project, located in Tete Province, Northwest Mozambique. In scarcely 2 years, Altona has turned a few Rare Earth intercepts in legacy drillholes, into a defined JORC Mineral Resource Estimate (13.6 million tonnes at 2.42% TREO) with a positive Scoping Study which fully supports the decision to advance this project.

Monte Muambe initiated its Prefeasibility Study stage in late 2023, and is currently focusing on the metallurgical aspects of the project.

As this work is progressing, Altona is making the most of its presence and experience in Africa to evaluate and acquire additional critical raw materials opportunities to complement Monte Muambe, in particular ionic clay Rare Earths deposits, but also other critical raw materials such as copper, niobium and lithium. 

The acquisition of the Kabompo South copper project in Zambia represents the first step towards the implementation of this expanded strategy.
